WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman David Rouzer (NC-07) released the following statement on the Motion to Vacate Speaker Kevin McCarthy:

"I am saddened by the events that transpired yesterday.  The Motion to Vacate was not in the interest of the country or the institution.    

"Speaker McCarthy’s display of leadership throughout his tenure is a true reflection of his respect for the U.S. House of Representatives, and I’m thankful for his dedicated service to our country.  Working together and under his leadership, our razor-thin majority achieved significant conservative policy wins while putting a halt to the extreme left-wing agenda of President Biden and his Democrat colleagues in the House and Senate."
