An update from the Salvation Army:
The Salvation Army of Cape Fear is working closely with New Hanover County, the City of Wilmington, New Hanover Regional Medical Center, the American Red Cross, Good Shepherd Center, United Way of Cape Fear, and others to best serve the community and our homeless population.
Their Red Shield Shelter is operating under the Governor's Shelter in Place guidelines. We have erected a tent on our Second Street property to provide additional shelter.
Community meals continue to be served each evening from our N. Second Street shelter location. All meals are takeout/curbside.
Their Social Services office continues to work with residents in need of utility and rent assistance. We are seeing a drastic increase in requests.
All of their Family Stores are closed.
All Volunteer opportunities are suspended until further notice.
