Rouzer Announces Relaunch of Congressional Supply Chain Caucus

  • Port of Wilmington

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congressman David Rouzer (R-NC), Congressman Dusty Johnson (R-SD), Congressman Colin Allred (D-TX), and Congresswoman Angie Craig (D-MN) announced the relaunch of the bipartisan Congressional Supply Chain Caucus.  Before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the bipartisan Congressional Supply Chain Caucus was created to work toward updating and improving the supply chain system.  At the time, the Caucus did not anticipate how ubiquitous supply chain concerns would soon become.

Today, Americans are more aware than ever of supply chain challenges and the need for commonsense, bipartisan solutions.  Given the necessity of modernized, functioning supply chains to all Americans, the Caucus will collaborate to advance policies accelerating supply chain performance and efficiency to drive affordability, sustainability, and availability of products.

Congressman Rouzer and Congressman Johnson will serve as the Republican co-chairs of the Caucus alongside Congressman Allred and Congresswoman Craig, who will serve as the Democratic co-chairs.

"Every American consumer and business has been impacted by the ongoing global supply chain crisis," said Rep. Rouzer.  “Time is money.  Groceries have become the most expensive ever, infrastructure projects have fallen behind schedule, and American industries are struggling to keep up with delays and increased costs of moving goods through the supply chain.  There are a wide-range of factors that led to these supply chain disruptions, and I’m proud to join my colleagues in relaunching this bipartisan caucus to craft commonsense policy solutions to improve the supply chain delivery system."

"Supply chain problems are still plaguing producers, manufacturers, and consumers across America,” said Rep. Johnson. “There's work to be done to smooth out our supply chain to ensure it’s functioning from manufacturing facilities to grocery stores to your doorstep. I'm proud to join the bipartisan Congressional Supply Chain Caucus, and to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to tackle these ongoing issues. Let's get to work."

“Our supply chains aren’t just about ensuring our economy is productive, but as we learned during the pandemic, supply chain disruptions directly impact families in Texas and across America,” said Rep. Allred. “That’s why the work of this Caucus is so important. Congress must work together in a bipartisan way to strengthen our supply chains so that we can lower costs, create jobs and compete on the global stage. I am proud to help lead this Caucus to do just that.”

“By strengthening and stabilizing American supply chains, we can lower costs for Minnesota families and family farmers, get products to shelves faster and address the vulnerabilities that so often lead to bottlenecks and higher prices at the grocery store,”said Rep. Craig. “I’m proud to lead the relaunch of the bipartisan Congressional Supply Chain Caucus – and am looking forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to improve our domestic supply chains and lower costs for hardworking Minnesotans.”

“Consumer Brands looks forward to partnering with the Congressional Supply Chain Caucus to build upon the progress being made to strengthen our supply chains through policy solutions that complement industry investments to enhance resiliency. Since the pandemic placed unprecedented strain on our supply chains, we’ve continued facing challenges that threaten consumer access to the essential products they rely on, including extreme weather, geopolitical events and export bans. We plan to remain constantly engaged with the congressional leaders on the Caucus as new opportunities emerge to advance the critical supply chain solutions we still need to best position ourselves against future disruptions.” – Tom Madrecki, Vice President of Supply Chain, Consumer Brands Association

The Caucus will partner with public and private stakeholders to educate Members of Congress and create a healthy dialogue around the importance of building an updated and healthy supply chain through comprehensive, bipartisan, and commonsense policy solutions.
